Off to Oregon

Off I go for a few days. For work alas, not for fun. I must avoid the fabric stores though. I did vow to no longer buy, only to use fabric.
err.. opps.
ok ok. I had to get a skoosh more fabric so I could finish a project. Just two and half yards and a layer cake. But thats ALL. And I did need them. really.
May my kitty's tail fall off if I am lying.

First UFO for this month

OK, I started this baby quilt about two years ago. Then I cut the border fabric wrong so there wasn't enough focus fabric to go all the way around. I didn't know what to do with it, so I didn't do ANYTHING more with it.
Well, I was just being a ninny. Just because it won't be exactly the way I wanted, it still needs finishing. Heck, the beautiful little girl that this is for, my nephews daughter, will be three years old soon. Probably too big for such a tiny quilt. But I am sure I can find just the right child to give it too. If not, it will be a beautiful donation the the Linus project.
So, I am working on it today. I "stretched" out the border fabric with the bit of left over pink peacock feather fabric I had from the blocks. Who knows, it may look better this way than the boring, predictable way I had planned the border.
Sheesh. I need to use my imagination more. Uhh.. creativity Jana!
UPDATE: I have finished the border now! I dont have backing for it right now, so I am moving on to make another UFO.

New year, new promises to bend...

New year means new year resolutions! Pretty much the same as last years.. lose a bit of weight and tone up, eat healthier, buy less fabric (well I'll try), get out more (instead of quilting?? hmm.. may need to rethink that one..) finish more projects than I start (see my UFO challenge) (lol.. like thats gonna happen!), use up more of my stash (umm.. that is FABRIC stash for you uninitiated into the world of Fabricaholics..), keep my sewing area neat and organized...ok now you know I am just dreaming! lol..

UFO PLEDGE AND GIVE AWAY

I pledge to complete X number of UFOs this year. Starting with this month. I will complete umm... 3, yes THREE, UFOs. And I will post pictures to prove it. Anyone else care to join me in my UFO pledge? Anyone who joins me will be entered in a drawing to receive a gift. Please leave a comment so that we can start UFOing the night away. :)

It was only a little bit.. and I had to use up a $25 gift certificate before it expired. Thats my story and I am sticking to it

OK, no one reads this so I can say whatever I want!! Muahahahahahaha
So, here is my plan.. I am going to bust my stash! And as I use it all up, I will report it here.. yard by yard.
I vow to buy NO MORE fabric.
Ok, I bought some today but that was before my brave decision to go forth and only use what I have. We simply cannot look backwards people.. this is a moving forward project. Just like life. It keeps moving forward too.

September Block Lotto

So, in the Block Lotto blog, we make blocks then enter a "drawing" to see who wins the blocks. This month it was Asian Stars. So here are my nine entries. I will be pleased to share these with whomever wins. I must say, I did a fine as* job on these puppies.

Gee Gees blocks

One thing I have done the last few months was to make a series of blocks for a local charity quilt. Had to make them out of supplied "ugly" fat quarters (which weren't all that ugly!!), then add my own fabric to complete the blocks. There was fabric for a little girl, a little boy, a woman and a man's quilt.. here are my blocks...

Naughty nautical anyone?

Well I haven't posted in awhile, but then, no one is reading this so who cares! lol..
So what I have done lately?
worked.
worked
OH! I went to work!

Well,I have been making a few quilt blocks for block swaps and charity quilts. I shall share the photos here for awhile.
It's something. Better than nothing.

My block swap partner wanted something Nautical.. At first I thought she said something naughty and I was going to do an awesome penis applique, something in chartruese and magenta, but then I reread what she wrote!
Swhooosh.. thank God I double checked that! Probably a penis block wouldn't have worked.. hmm.. I guess I could have said it was a lighthouse.... maybe if I embroidered a few windows up the shaft?

Mojitos vs quilting, the art of relaxation

I just wanted to let you know that horse down in the first post..... it is in Puerto Rico. I went there in June. I could not find a quilt store anywhere, so I had to drink mojitos instead of quilting. And go on a tour of the Bacardi Rum factory. And drink mojitos. Then we went on a walking tour of Old San Juan. and had a few mojitos.
Went through the Rain Forest, ate real Mofungo, with a mojito to wash it down.
I did spend some time just relaxing on the beautiful white sands beach on Palomino Island, drinking a mojito or two.
It is seriously due to the lack of quilt shops in Puerto Rico that forced me into mojito madness.
That's my story and I am sticking to it.

And so it begins...

my own Blog! I feel so.. soo...modern n all. you know.. connected to this fast paced electronic age we now live in!
Oh yeah..*head bobbing up n down* I am blogging now.
However, since I hate typing, I am not sure just how prolific I will be here.
And, what are the rules here? Can I swear? be vulgar? show off my tattoos and chew my cud?
err.. scratch that last one. I don't have several stomachs so I don't regularly regurgitate any cud and chew it...It may LOOK like I have several stomachs.. but really.. Its just the camera angle... we all know cameras add about 80 pounds..
F*ing cameras. I spit on them!
Well I would spit on them, but I would just have to wipe it up.

Crap.. I better read the rules... I dont know if I can say f*ing.

I hate rules.. they drag me down man.. ohh man..

so.. later gator..

be well....
